On Sunday, November 3, Rio Takeda of Japan beat Marina Alex in a thrilling playoff to win the 2024 Toto Japan Classic. It took her six holes to clinch her first-ever LPGA Tour title and her eighth on the LPGA of Japan Tour.
Takeda carded a 5-under 67 in the final round of the 2024 Toto Japan Classic, but Alex forced the playoff with a 6-under 66. The duo then played six more holes to determine the winner. Returning to the par-5 18th for the fourth time, the 21-year-old Japanese golfer made a birdie to secure her first LPGA win.
The purse for the 2024 Toto Japan Classic was $2 million, and Takeda earned $300,000 as the winner's share. Marina Alex received $182,538 for her runner-up finish.
