Matt Jones had an underwhelming LIV Golf season, finishing 42nd in the individual standings. This left him in the "Open Zone," which means Ripper GC can trade him for another player if they choose to.
Earlier this year, Jones was signed by Ripper GC, and the team went on to win the LIV Golf Team Championship. Although Cam Smith had said he would like to keep the winning team intact, there are speculations regarding Jones' future with Smith's team.
On Tuesday, December 3, Matt Vincenzi of Sports Illustrated wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Ripper GC reportedly wants to keep the same team.
"A LIV Golf Team Staffer told SI that while the Rippers 🇦🇺 are focused on re-signing Matt Jones, "I don’t think there’s an Australian player playing right now that doesn’t want to be on the Rippers," he wrote on X.
