Derrick Rose finished his career as one of the greatest players in Chicago Bulls history. Rose led the Bulls to the playoffs in six of his seven seasons in Chicago and became the youngest player to win the Most Valuable Player award in NBA history in 2010-11, his third season in the league.
The 2008-09 Rookie of the Year may not wind up in the Hall of Fame, but will undoubtedly see his signature No. 1 jersey hoisted into the rafters of the United Center. At least he'd prefer it that way.
On Friday, Rose made his decision between having his jersey retired and being honored with a statue, offering a humorous reason behind his decision.
"With the way people are creating the statues, no. My jersey being retired, I would love that," Rose said.
