F1 world champion Damon Hill has criticized Aston Martin F1 driver Fernando Alonso for confronting Liam Lawson in parc ferme during the 2024 US Grand Prix last weekend. The two-time world champion had a disappointing outing at the Circuit of the Americas, failing to finish with points in either the Sprint or the main race, and languished outside the top 10.
Throughout the weekend, Alonso battled Visa Cash App RB driver Lawson who overtook the Spanish driver during the Sprint race on Saturday. He confronted the rookie in parc ferme about the incident. Lawson later spoke with ESPN about the heated exchange.
"He was really upset, I'm not sure why, we were racing for P16 and I don't know why he was so upset," Lawson said. "Yeah, I don't know. It is what it is. Hopefully, he can get over it and we'll move forward. I understand he had a pretty horrible race so I can understand why he's upset. But if I did anything wrong I'd have got a penalty."
