The Detroit Pistons survived the LA Lakers' desperate late fourth-quarter rally to walk away from Crypto.com Arena with a 117-114 win. Cade Cunningham scored a layup with 3:02 remaining in the game to push Detroit's lead to 117-106. The Pistons failed to score again but held on for the victory.
LeBron James, who scored the Lakers' final five points, missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left. The four-time MVP carried his team in the final quarter with 16 points but couldn't convert the shot that would have forced overtime. He finished the game with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
The Pistons leaned on Cade Cunningham, who tallied 20 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. Tim Hardaway Jr., Jaden Ivey, Simone Fontecchio, Ronald Holland II and Malik Beasley helped carry the scoring load.
