Red Wings HC Derek Lalonde said about offside call waving off Marco Kasper's goal - Source: Imagn
Detroit Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde expressed frustration over an offside call that waved off what would have been a go-ahead goal by Marco Kasper in the Red Wings' 3-2 OT loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
In the second period, Kasper had redirected a shot during a power play, putting Detroit ahead 2-1. However, on review, it was determined that Red Wings defenseman Erik Gustafsson was ahead of the puck on the zone entry, negating the goal due to offside.
"I don’t know how he (Gustafsson) got himself offside. There’s a perfect storm. He literally just cut the edges to go outside at the exact time, and that was an unfortunate mishap there," Lalonde said after the game.
