The New York Yankees have been busy in the offseason, and after missing out on superstar outfielder Juan Soto, the Bronx Bombers have added a couple of pitchers to the roster. While the Yankees strengthened the rotation after signing All-Star starter Max Fried, they added a reliable arm in the bullpen this week after trading for two-time All-Star closer Devin Williams.
Williams, a two-time National League Reliever of the Year, was traded from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Nestor Cortes Jr. and Caleb Durbin. The Yankees also paid $2 million as part of the deal. The 2020 Rookie of the Year started his MLB journey with the Brewers in 2019, and on Friday, he made his feelings known about the franchise after his move to New York.
"Thank you Milwaukee! This city & the fans will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm forever grateful to the Brewers for giving me the opportunity to go out and show the world what can do. With that being said.. I'm excited for the next chapter! See you soon New York!" Williams wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post.
