The New York Rangers have locked their star goaltender Igor Shesterkin to a massive 8-year, $92 million contract extension. While the deal is confirmed, several key details have been speculated on by hockey insider Elliotte Friedman.
According to Friedman, Shesterkin's contract includes a full no-movement clause for the entirety of the deal. This gives the netminder complete control over where he plays for the next eight seasons. The contract also has a massive $85 million in signing bonuses.
"Some details we're hearing: $85M in signing bonuses Full NMC all the way through," Friedman tweeted. "According to a couple other teams, he actually left money on the table -- but NYR really wanted to get this done, and Shesterkin ultimately wanted to stay."
