Following his maiden DP World Tour win at the Australian PGA Championship, Elvis Smylie has broken into the top 300 in the latest OWGR update. He has made a nearly 500-spot jump in the Official World Golf Rankings, reaching 253rd place, his best ranking so far.
Smylie entered the Royal Queensland Golf Club ranked 756th in the OWGR and was nowhere near the favorites to win this week. The Australian PGA Championship field featured players like Cameron Smith, Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, and Marc Leishman. However, he stunned the oddsmakers and heavyweights to claim his first-ever title on the European Tour.
Elvis Smylie began the final round at 10-under, tied at the top with Cameron Smith. He fired a 4-under 67 in the final round of the shortened Australian PGA Championship to finish at 14-under through 54 holes. Smith fell two strokes short after carding a 2-under 69 on Day 3.
