Garret Crochet's strong performance in the first half of 2024 with MLB's worst team, the Chicago White Sox, made him a potential trade candidate in July. However, the trade could not materialize at the time. Despite this, Crochet continued to post stellar numbers, finishing the season with a 6-12 record, a 3.58 ERA and 209 strikeouts.
On Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox, who lost a record 121 games in 2024, traded Crochet to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for highly rated catching prospect Kyle Teel, outfielder Braden Montgomery, infielder Chase Meidroth and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez.
On Thursday, Crochet posted on Instagram, sharing his feelings about his time with the White Sox.
"Thank you to the White Sox organization for giving me a chance. I wore the uniform with pride and I’m grateful for the teammates and coaches I shared the field with. Excited for the new opportunity that lies ahead," Crochet wrote in the caption.
