Gil Vicente will host Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos on Sunday in another round of the 2024-25 Primeira Liga campaign. The home side have picked up important points in recent games and now sit 10th in the league table with 16 points from 14 matches as they continue their hunt for a first top-half league finish since the 2021-22 campaign.
They beat Farense 1-0 in their last match and were largely uninspiring but profited from a second-half own goal to secure their first victory at the Estadio de Sao Luis since January 2016.
Sporting, meanwhile, have been largely unconvincing under new head coach Joao Pereira but remain atop the Primeira Liga standings and will be looking to retain the spot this weekend. They beat Boavista 3-2 in their last league outing before securing a spot in the Taca de Portugal quarterfinals days later following a 2-1 extra-time win over Santa Clara.
