The trial for the five players from the Hockey Canada scandal who were a part of Canada's world junior hockey team will begin on April 22, 2025. All five were charged with sexual assault.
The Superior Court jury trial will be held in London, Ontario, and is expected to take up to eight weeks following the selection of the jurors. Judge Bruce Thomas has presided over most of the pre-trial hearings for the case.
He set the trial's next date in a virtual meeting with the Crown and defense attorneys. There was a September alternative, but the judge rejected that.
Former NHL players Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Carter Hart, and Alex Formenton were all charged with a single count of sexual assault. Michael McLeod got two counts, including one for helping someone else in their assault.
