Lionel Messi's former Inter Miami manager Tata Martino reacted to Diego Gomez's decision to leave the MLS club to join Brighton and Hove Albion. The 21-year-old midfielder is set to join the English side in January.
The Paraguayan joined The Herons in July 2023 from Libertad for a reported €2.7 million fee and has joined the English side for €13 million after a fruitful 18-month spell in Miami. He played 40 games for the side, scoring seven times and providing seven assists.
Speaking about his prospective move to the Premier League, his former manager told The Athletic:
“This is my own personal opinion, I believe it’s the right team and the right league for Diego. If I had to choose a better alternative for him I don’t think I’d have one. Brighton have a new manager. He’s young and I think all those things will be good for Diego.”
