Manchester United legend Gary Neville has issued a verdict on the side after their 0-2 defeat at home to Newcastle United on Monday, December 30. The Red Devils will end the year just seven points above the drop zone after suffering a fourth successive defeat, leading to worry within the club.
Ruben Amorim's side were outmuscled, outplayed, and comfortably second-best as they timidly surrendered to a defeat at Old Trafford against the Magpies. Speaking with Sky Sports during the game, Neville expressed his disappointment at the team, branding them as the worst in the league.
"You are watching the worst pound-for-pound football club in the country. They are that bad," Neville said.
Manchester United were without the suspended duo of Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte in midfield, and their lack of physicality was ruthlessly exposed at home. Summer signing Joshua Zirkzee started the game but was taken off after just 33 minutes after failing to have an impact, once again.
