Coming off a bright 31-home run year, first baseman Josh Naylor got dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks from the Cleveland Guardians in a trade that involved Slade Cecconi and a competitive balance draft pick in the 2025 MLB draft in exchange.
Naylor spent four years with the Guardians after joining via trade from the San Diego Padres in Aug. 2020. He's coming off a career year, hitting .243 and 108 RBIs. The first baseman expressed his thanks for his former team and his brother Bo.
On Friday, after the trade went official, Josh Naylor penned an Instagram post filled with immense gratitude for the Guardians who let him shine through during his stay there.
"To the Cleveland Guardians fans, my teammates, coaches, and everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey: Thinking about the past four (plus) seasons with the Guardians, I’m filled with immense gratitude," Naylor wrote. "From the first day I stepped onto the field, to the countless moments of growth, challenges, and triumphs, this organization has played an important part in shaping who I am, both as a player and as a person."
