Liverpool legend John Aldridge has claimed that Reds backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is better than Giorgi Mamardashvili, who they have agreed to sign. The Georgian goalkeeper will leave the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia for Anfield in the summer of 2025.
Kelleher was called upon on numerous occasions last due to first-choice goalkeeper Alisson's injuries, and he impressed, making 26 appearances and keeping five clean sheets. This led to rumors that he could leave the club to find a starting berth elsewhere.
However, he opted to stay. In the summer, though, Liverpool turned towards Giorgi Mamardashvili to become Alisson's long-term replacement at Anfield.
This will likely force Caiomhin Kelleher out of the club if he wants to play regular football. However, John Aldridge is not pleased with the decision to sign Mamardashvili. He told Sunday World (via Tribal Football):
