Kevin Shattenkirk has retired from the NHL after 14 seasons. The 35-year-old defenseman announced his decision on Tuesday. Shattenkirk shared his gratitude for the game and reflected on his successful career in a post on X on Wednesday.
"After 14 amazing years in the National Hockey League, I have decided to retire," Shattenkirk tweeted. "I never knew hockey would take me this far. This game has had a dramatic impact in developing me into the man I am today."
Following his announcement, Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark reshared the NHL’s post about Shattenkirk’s retirement and added a kind message for him on his Instagram story.
