Geovany Quenda, who has been heavily linked to Manchester United, broke a 22-year-old record held by Cristiano Ronaldo in Sporting CP's league clash with Benfica on Sunday. The right winger made his senior debut for the Portuguese club in 2023.
After appearing in the Liga Portugal clash, Geovany Quenda, aged 17 years and eight months, became the youngest in club's history to feature in the Lisbon derby. This record was previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who appeared in the derby in December 2002 at the age of 17 years and 10 months.
Quenda has turned heads with his impressive performances for Sporting since making his first-team debut on August 4. After netting in their 4-3 loss to FC Porto in the Supertaça Candido de Oliveira, he became the youngest goalscorer in the club's history at the age of 17 years and 95 days.
