Several teams have moved players to strengthen their infields over the last couple of weeks. However, one player remains without a team: four-time All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso.
The former Rookie of the Year's market has been surprisingly dull in the offseason even though teams have been on the lookout for reliable names at first base.
Alonso turned down a qualifying offer from the team in November to become a free agent. However, both parties have been linked with a reunion.
Analyst Connor Rogers discussed Alonso's potential reunion with the Mets on "The Mets Pod".
"It feels like the market for Pete Alonso has not developed yet and I think the Mets were smart for waiting this out right now because the reality is whether people want to hear it or not, Pete Alonso's market probably wasn't what he thought and this is actually a chance to me now."
