Former seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher's wife Corinna assured the legions of his fans that the German driver was still 'here, but different' during her appearance on the Netflix documentary Schumacher, which aired in September 2021. The former Ferrari driver retired from the sport at the end of the 2012 season after his unsuccessful three-year stint with Mercedes only resulted in him getting a podium at the European GP in his final year.

The 55-year-old failed to recapture his glory days and take the automotive giant to the top of the spot as he had envisioned when he first joined them after a three-year hiatus from the sport in early 2010. In December 2013, Schumacher suffered a brain injury during a skiing accident and was placed in a medically induced coma for years.

Information regarding his recovery was kept under wraps by Michael Schumacher's family. However, Corinna provided a rare insight into their new reality when she spoke about the F1 icon's condition in the Netflix documentary Schumacher, which was released in September 2021 and follows the life of the famed racer. She said (as quoted by ESPN):
