The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly looking at possible trade for defenseman Vincent Desharnais. He was signed in the offseason as a free agent after spending most of his career with the Edmonton Oilers.

Desharnais became one of the mainstays in the Oilers blueline in the latter half of last season. His 6-foot-7 size gave their defense an extra sense of physicality. He earned 11 points, 122 blocked shots and 135 hits in less than 16 minutes on the ice for a total of 78 regular season games. He was a potent D-man used during the penalty kill.

But having moved cross-country to Vancouver, Desharnais has struggled early on. He has played only 17 games from a possible 28 and has two points, 23 hits and 23 blocks. He is the lowest among the Canucks defensemen in takeaways with just one and has been outshot 101-88 times during five-on-five play.
