Kris Knoblauch comes clean on Connor McDavid's depleted usage in OT win - Source: Imagn
The Edmonton Oilers pulled off a 4-3 overtime win against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night, with Connor McDavid leading the way with a goal and three assists. He is now just one away from reaching his 1,000th career point.
Following the game, Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch acknowledged that McDavid was playing exceptionally well and said it justified giving him more ice time. Talking about his usage of his captain, who played for 20:55 total, Knoblauch said:
“I thought he played an excellent game and I probably wasn't using him enough in the first two periods. In the third period, there was almost every second shift he was going out there. He had a heckuva game.”
