Saquon Barkley entered the game with 1,688 rushing yards, on pace for a historic year. He kicked the Eagles offense off with a 20-yard run to snap up a first down. Another 2-yard run put the Eagles on the board early on as they picked up a 7-0 lead. This was their first opening-drive touchdown of the season.
Despite a 47-yard return from Luke McCaffrey, the Commanders failed to make things happen, turning the ball over and giving the Eagles another chance to put the offense on the field. An A.J. Brown touchdown off a Kenny Pickett throw put some more daylight between the two teams. This was, of course, Pickett’s first TD in an Eagles uniform after Jalen Hurts was taken off the field due to a concussion scare.
