Juan Soto's blockbuster $765M deal with Mets draws interesting reaction from Brandon Nimmo
Juan Soto inked a 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets. It is the single-largest contract in the history of professional sports. They outbid Soto's former team, the New York Yankees, en route to locking down the potential future Hall of Famer for the next decade and a half.
That is not a reality Brandon Nimmo, another Mets outfielder, ever expected to see. When he was drafted in 2011, he recalled the team shedding big contracts to cut payroll.
Now, they're outspending the mighty Yankees. Via the New York Post, Nimmo said:
“It’s amazing how [Cohen] has changed things for Mets fans, Mets players and this organization. It’s just a pivotal moment in his ownership and the history of the Mets franchise that he’s able to get a player away from the Yankees and a guy in his prime."
