F1 fans recently reacted to FIA removing a point awarded for the fastest lap in a Grand Prix from the 2025 season. This decision was made at the World Motor Sport Council meeting a few days ago.
In an F1 race, a driver who has clocked the fastest lap out of all other drivers in a race gets one extra point for being quick despite running in race trim. This feature in a Grand Prix has given several interesting results in the race and title battles.
However, the FIA recently held a World Motor Sport Council meeting where they not only discussed the 2026 F1 rules but also made some minor changes for 2025, including the removal of one point for the fastest lap.
