Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson quipped that he's waiting for Jakob Chychrun to give him "one-of-two tokens of apology" for the bone-breaking wrist shot that caught Wilson in the face on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
In the first period, Wilson was struck in the left cheek by a blistering slapshot from his teammate and defenseman Chychrun. Wilson immediately left to the locker room as the impact left his face badly swollen. However, he returned after a few minutes and scored two goals in the Capitals' 4-2 victory.
It was later found that the puck had fractured one of the bones in Wilson's sinus cavity. When asked about the incident at Wednesday's practice, Wilson said with a laugh:
