For the Chicago Bears, finding the right head coach to replace Matt Eberflus is the number-one priority for the 2025 offseason. After the firing of Eberflus, the discussion revolved around the hiring of an offensive coach to help in Caleb Williams' development during his second season.
But extreme measures were discussed. With the San Francisco 49ers struggling after their Super Bowl appearance, NBC Sports analyst Mike Florio discussed the possibility of the Bears making a blockbuster trade for Shanahan, just as the Denver Broncos did in 2023 for Sean Payton.
