Kuwait continue their pursuit of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup on home soil against the UAE on Tuesday for their second group fixture of the competition. Ranked 134th in the world, the Blue Waves began their campaign with a lowly 1-1 draw against Oman last week.
Yousef Nasser's 34th-minute strike had their noses in front, but Issam Al-Sabhi restored parity for the Reds just eight minutes later.
With the UAE-Qatar game also ending all square at 1-1, all sides in Group A are on level terms right now. Kuwait, though, lead the table on account of disciplinary points.
Juan Antonio Pizzi's side are searching for their first victory on Tuesday but their form doesn't hold them in good stead - they've failed to win their last 10 games in all competitions, the majority of which came in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
