Sporting CP visit the Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques on Friday to face Vitoria Guimaraes in the Liga Portugal, looking to retain their top spot in the division.
Having begun their campaign by steamrolling their way to 11 consecutive wins, the reigning Portuguese champions have won just twice in their next five, signaling a decline in form.
But in their most recent encounter, they saw off rivals Benfica 1-0 on home turf, as Geny Catamo struck the only goal of the game in the 29th minute. Nonetheless, the downswing in form has allowed Porto to close the gap on them, with the latter also on 40 points after 16 games but trailing a position by virtue of goal difference.
