The 1982 German Grand Prix saw one of the most brutal driver scuffles in F1 history. It was the race where Nelson Piquet, the father of Max Verstappen's partner Kelly Piquet, reportedly punched and kicked Eliseo Salazar following their on-track incident.
The Formula 1 fraternity has witnessed multiple scuffles between drivers, including one where the backmarker took the race leader out - the Verstappen versus Esteban Ocon incident in the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix. However, the physical altercation between Piquet and Salazar remains one of the most recognized ones.
After qualifying in P4 on Saturday, Piquet started his race behind Didier Pironi, Alain Prost, and Rene Arnoux. However, he managed to improve his position and was in the lead of the race. As he began to pull away, he started lapping the backmarkers where he met Salazar.
