Red Bull driver Max Verstappen registered an F1 weekend for the ages at the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix as he dominated the field from start to finish throughout the weekend. The Dutch driver headed into the Suzuka International Circuit with a vengeance as he had lost his 10-race winning streak in Singapore after Carlos Sainz denied Red Bull a perfect season. The then-two-time world champion sent warning signs throughout the grid with his first lap in the FP1 session.
During the qualifying session on Saturday, Verstappen qualified in the pole position for the second time at Suzuka and had an advantage of 0.581s over the P2 qualifier and McLaren driver Oscar Piastri. He further asserted his dominance in the race as he cruised to a race win ahead of Lando Norris with an advantage of over 19 seconds and even took the fastest lap of the race to take maximum points from the weekend.
