On Sunday, December 1, Ryggs Johnston fired a third straight 68 to claim the ISPS Handa Australian Open. He finished at 18-under, beating Curtis Luck by a three-stroke margin for his maiden title in just his second DP World Tour start.
Johnston entered the final round of the ISPS Handa Australian Open with a shared two-stroke lead alongside Lucas Herbert. He began the day with an eagle and a birdie on the first three holes. He faced a bit of a slump with three bogeys over the next six holes but recovered well on the back nine with three more birdies to claim his first-ever title.
Ryggs Johnston was impressive from Day 1 at Melbourne Sandbelt, where he shot 65. He then grabbed the lead on the second day and never looked back. The 24-year-old, who usually plays on the PGA Tour Americas, was playing just his second event on the European Tour.
