The San Francisco Giants signed Willy Adames, one of the best free agent shortstops, this offseason on a seven-year, $182 million contract. It's the largest contract in Giants history, surpassing the $167 million deal in 2013 for catcher and current president Buster Posey.

Willy Adames joins third baseman Matt Chapman, who had got a six-year, $151 million contract extension by the Giants in September. While talking with a Giants reporter, Adames revealed that he has gotten in touch with Chapman and discussed guarding the left side of infield.

"Yeah, we've been talking for the last two days," Adames said. "He was excited because, you know, during the summer when I came here, he was like, 'Me and you on the left side, it's going to be amazing.' And I was like, 'Well, let's make it happen.'
