Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is on the verge of reaching 1,000 career points, a milestone achieved by only 98 players in NHL history. After an impressive four-point night in an overtime win against the New York Islanders on November 12, McDavid now sits at 999 career points. McDavid shared his thoughts while speaking with Sportsnet reporter Gene Principe after the game.
"Wish it would've happened tonight," McDavid said. "I thought we had enough to get there tonight, but, you know, ultimately, sitting on 999…”
Reflecting on this milestone, McDavid took a moment to appreciate everyone who helped him along the way. He thanked teammates, coaches, Edmonton’s management, and the ownership group for supporting his career.
“These milestones… are a great time to reflect,” McDavid said. “Think about all the great players that I played with, that I play with still, the coaches, the staff here in Edmonton. The ownership management, everybody.”
