Fans have ripped into Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes on social media after he was sent off in their Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 defeat at the Molineux on Boxing Day (December 26).
Fernandes was booked in the 18th minute for bringing down Matheus Cunha. Just two minutes into the second half (47'), the referee showed the Portuguese playmaker a second yellow card for a poor - and arguably needless - tackle on Nelson Semedo.
Soon after, Jørgen Strand Larsen had the ball in the back of Manchester United's net, but the goal was cancelled for offside (49'). The hosts broke the deadlock through a brilliant corner from Matheus Cunha, whose delivery flew straight into the back of the net (58'). Wolves added a late goal through Hwang Hee-chan (90+9') to seal the three points.
