ankees Hot Stove Rumors: Brian Cashman eyes big 1B addition with Paul Goldschmidt, Pete Alonso (image credit: IMAGN)
Given the reports that the New York Yankees want to put Cody Bellinger in center field, the team still needs a first baseman. Even after spending $218 million on one player and making two blockbuster trades, New York general manager Brian Cashman may not be done spending this year.
According to the New York Post, the Yankees are being particularly aggressive in the first base market. That remains one of the biggest holes on their roster, but not one Cashman seems intent on ignoring.
They are reportedly looking at Pete Alonso, Christian Walker, Carlos Santana and Paul Goldschmidt. They are engaged in talks with each of them, and any of the four would play first base and confirm Bellinger as the everyday center fielder.
