Juan Soto was disheartened by his trade from the Washington Nationals after he rejected their 2022 contract proposal
On Monday, news broke that Juan Soto will be signing a massive fifteen year deal with the Mets worth some $765 million. Although the deal will make Soto the highest-paid player in MLB history, it is not the first time in his career that such an opportunity presented itself.
After the 2021 season, Soto's then-team, the Washington Nationals, offered the Dominican a $440 million contract over fifteen years. Had Soto accepted it, he would have agreed to the largest deal in MLB history at the time.
