Former goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has hit out at Chelsea's Robert Sanchez after their 2-1 loss to Fulham in the Premier League on Thursday (December 26). He believes the Spaniard's decision to kick the ball up the pitch in the final minutes of the game cost them a point.
Speaking on BBC, Schwarzer said Sanchez should not have cleared the ball when he could pass it to Tosin Adarabioyo near him. He opined that the poor clearance helped Fulham, saying:
"Robert Sanchez looked to hit a massive diagonal and he doesn't hit it properly. That enabled Fulham to hit them on the counter, and players were caught out of position. The goalkeeper has to look at himself; it was a poor clearance."
