Columbus Blue Jackets alternate captain Zach Werenski made history during their 6-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Werenski’s two assists extended his point streak to eight games, breaking the franchise record for a defenseman. The record was previously held by Jaroslav Spacek and Bryan Berard at seven games.
The Blue Jackets’ official Instagram account celebrated Werenski’s achievement with a special post.
“Another one for the record books! Congrats on the longest point streak for a defenseman in team history, Z! 🎉”, the post was captioned.
